Argentinian coach Mauricio Pochettino may take over as head coach of Newcastle United if current manager Eddie Howe leaves to become the head coach of the England national team. This information comes from the Mirror.

According to the publication, Howe is on the shortlist of candidates for the England national team management. Newcastle hopes to resolve the situation with their manager as quickly as possible so Pochettino can be invited to the club and start working promptly if Howe leaves.

Pochettino's last position was at Chelsea, where he managed the team from the summer of 2023 to May 2024. Under his leadership, Chelsea played 51 matches across all competitions, winning 27, drawing 10, and losing 14. He has also coached Tottenham and French side PSG.

It's worth noting that on July 16, it was announced that Gareth Southgate decided to step down from his position as head coach of the England national team, a role he had held since 2016.

Additionally, the England national football team is seeking a new head coach through an open announcement. The vacancy is available until August 2, and anyone interested can apply.
