On Sunday, July 14, the Spanish national team defeated England in the final match of the European Football Championship with a score of 2-1. The match was officiated by a refereeing team led by French referee François Letexier.
In the 86th minute, Spanish forward Mikel Oyarzabal scored the winning goal for the Spanish team, slotting past defender Marc Cucurella. However, the incident was quite controversial. It may have seemed that the player was in an offside position. Yet, upon reviewing the goal, it became clear that the attacker was not offside.
This possible offside call allowed Spain to become the champions of Europe. This title marks the fourth in history for the Spanish team (1964, 2008, 2012, 2024).
Forward of the Spanish national team Lamine Yamal has been named the best young player of the 2024 European Football Championship.
Spanish team player Rodri has been awarded the best player of the entire tournament.
