Peruvian police beat Venezuelan national team players with batons for trying to approach the guest stands after the match of the qualifying stage of the World Cup - 2026.
The meeting in the Peruvian capital Lima ended with a score of 1:1. Midfielder Jefferson Savarino scored a goal for the visitors.
Police officers gave the players a harsh warning not to go to the stands to give their jerseys to the fans, and then started pushing them away. One of the Venezuelan players responded to a police officer, and then the law enforcers took up their batons.
After six rounds of qualifying, the Venezuelan national team is in fourth place in the standings with nine points.
