Simba SC have travelled to Libya ahead of the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round duel against host Al Ahli Tripoli. The team has been shaping up in Dar es Salaam during the international break, and their coach, Fadlu Davids, spoke to Telecomasia.net on their preparations after this weekend’s friendly match victory over JKT, which they won 2-0.
The tactician says he feels the team is ready to compete, and underlines that their biggest ambition is to reach the final of the tournament.
That is the target we have set for ourselves as a team, but of course, we want to go one match at a time. At the moment, the challenge is to get to the group stage, and we face a very strong and competent Ahli side. We have done our homework on them and we know it is not going to be easy. We want to go there and have a positive result in the first leg.
Fadlu Davids
Simba played the first friendly match against Sudanese champions Al Hilal, also in Dar es Salaam, and Davids believes such a strong opposition gives them a glimpse of where they are a as a team.
We have perfected a few areas that we thought we lacked in a bit and we have ensured that we strengthen where we think we are getting it right. We have worked on a wholesome approach to the team.
