On November 20, Qatar and Ecuador will play the first match of 2022 FIFA World Cup

The 22nd FIFA World Cup kicks off on November 20 in Qatar at the Al Bayt Stadium in El Haour with a match between the local team and Ecuador.

The referee of the match will be 46-year-old Italian Daniele Orsato. The match will begin at 16:00 GMT.

The teams of Qatar and Ecuador have met three times in friendly matches. Two matches were held in 1996. The first meeting ended with a score of 1-1, and Ecuador won the second one (2-1). The teams met for the third time in 2018, the match ended in favor of Qatar 4:3.

32 national teams will take part in the Qatar tournament. The World Cup has never been held in the Arab countries before, and moreover, the championship will be held in winter for the first time. The French are to defend their FIFA World Cup trophy after their 4-2 victory over Croatia in Moscow in 2018.

The final of the World Cup 2022 will be held on December 18.
