The management of French Nice decided to temporarily suspend Algerian defender Youcef Atal from the general group because of his offensive publications in social networks.
Earlier, the player called for a "black day on the Jews" because of the current events in Israel and Palestine.
OGC Nice understands that the player recognised his error by quickly withdrawing the sharing of the publication and presented his written and public apologies. However, given the nature of the shared publication and its seriousness, the club took the decision to immediately take the first disciplinary sanctions against the player, prior to those that could be decided by the sporting and judicial authorities.
Earlier, London-based Chelsea announced public support for Israel in the escalating conflict, speaking out against the rise of anti-Semitism.
In the current season, Atal played six matches in the French Ligue 1, scoring one goal.
