According to Mundo Deportivo, Lionel Messi, forward for MLS club Inter Miami and the Argentinian national football team, will not be able to attend the gala evening celebrating the 125th anniversary of FC Barcelona.
On November 21, Goal reported, referencing Catalunya Radio, that the 37-year-old forward, a product of La Masia, was expected to participate in the celebration of the Catalan club's birthday. However, it has been confirmed that the star player will miss the event due to urgent business. Nevertheless, there is a possibility that Messi may participate in some other format.
For context, Messi was a player for Barcelona from 2003 to 2021, during which time he became a ten-time La Liga champion, a seven-time Copa del Rey winner, a four-time UEFA Champions League winner, and a three-time UEFA Super Cup champion.
In an interview with journalist Fabrizio Romano on November 23, Messi expressed his desire to move back to Barcelona, where he spent many happy years.
