FIFA president Gianni Infantino announced at a press conference that Morocco will host the 2023 Club World Cup. The tournament will be held from February 1 to 11.

The tournament will be held in the usual format: the host country's team will play against the five winners of the strongest continental club tournaments. Thus, the local Wydad as well as Spain's Real Madrid, Brazil's Flamengo, Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal, Egypt's Al Ahly and New Zealand's Auckland City will play in Morocco.

Infantino noted that from 2025, the Club World Cup will follow a new format with 32 teams.

The Moroccan team reached the semifinals at the 2022 World Cup, where it lost to Argentina (0-3), and will now play in the consolation final against Croatia. The match will take place on December 17 at 18:00, GMT+3.
