39-year-old midfielder Luka Modric of Real Madrid has become the oldest player in the club's history, journalist and insider Fabrizio Romano reports.

The Croatian player came off the bench in the 10th round of La Liga, where Real Madrid defeated Celta Vigo 2-1. Notably, Modric provided an assist three minutes after entering the field. This means the midfielder participated in an official match at the age of 39 years and 40 days.

Modric broke the record held by legendary Hungarian player Ferenc Puskas, who played his last match for Real Madrid in 1966 at 39 years and 36 days old.

This season, Modric has been involved in 13 matches across all competitions, contributing three assists. His contract with Real Madrid runs until June 30, 2025. According to Transfermarkt, his market value stands at six million euros.

Previously, Modric became the third oldest player to register an assist in UEFA Champions League history.

In addition, journalist Jose Felix Diaz reported that the Croatian midfielder does not plan to retire at the end of the current season.
