Striker Michael Olunga has described it as one of the proudest moments of his career, making history by becoming Qatari Club Al-Duhail’s all-time top scorer. Olunga found the back of the net in Duhail’s 6-2 thrashing of Al-Shamal in the Qatar Stars League to become the club’s historic scorer with his 121st goal since joining.
Speaking exclusively to Telecomasia.net, Olunga says it has been the result of hard work and resilience, especially coming through in a season where injury almost derailed his plans and targets.
I'm incredibly proud to have set this record at Al-Duhail. It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of my teammates, coaches, and the support from our fans. I’ve always believed in pushing my limits, and this achievement motivates me to continue striving for greatness. Ever since I joined the club, I knew I wanted to make history and raise the level of the club. I am incredibly delighted to achieve this.

The Kenyan striker, who also captains the national team, joined Duhail in 2021 from Japanese side Kashiwa Reysol and has become their go-to man in front of goal since then. The 30-year-old says the work does not stop here, as he wants to stretch the record even further.
Breaking the all-time goal-scoring record is a motivation and a challenge to work even harder and set the bar higher. I’m excited for what the future holds and aim to keep contributing to the team's success. As a team, the target remains to fight for titles, and that is what I strive to help the team with for the rest of the season.
