Eight-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi has confessed that he dreams of returning to Barcelona for one match. The striker spent most of his career with the team.
ESPN quoted Messi as saying:
I think I deserve to be able to say goodbye to people who I shared so many good and bad moments together during my career. Barcelona is my home, I love the club and the people in Barcelona. If it [tribute game] happens, I would be happy to be there.
Leo left Barcelona in the summer of 2021, signing a contract with PSG. He played 778 matches for the Blaugrana, scored 672 goals and made 305 assists.
In early October, the media reported that Messi may return to Barcelona on loan.
Gerardo Martino, the head coach of Inter Miami, for which the Argentine has been playing since the summer of 2023, laughed off these rumors.
Last Monday, October 30, Messi received his record eighth Ballon d'Or, beating Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe in the race for the award.
