Argentina striker Lionel Messi will miss friendlies against El Salvador and Costa Rica, TyC Sports reports.
According to the publication, the 36-year-old forward will not take the field due to a muscle injury. The matches will be held on 23 and 26 March.
It is not yet known whether Messi will come to the location of the national team of Argentina or will remain at Inter Miami. Messi missed the match against D.C. United (3-1) in the fifth round of the regular MLS championship.
Earlier it was reported that Messi may play for the Argentine national team at the Olympic football tournament in Paris. President of the Argentine Football Association Claudio Tapia said that the tenth number, under which Leo performs, will be removed after the forward retires.
