French Paris Saint-Germain and Argentina forward and 2022 World Cup champion Lionel Messi will meet with representatives of Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal on May 1, according to journalist Rudy Galetti.
According to Galetti, the meeting between Messi and "The Leaders" on the possible transfer of the 35-year-old Argentine to the Riyadh-based club will be held the day after the Ligue 1 match in round 33 against Lorient. Al-Hilal is reportedly willing to pay the striker €400 million a year, which would make Messi the highest-paid player in history.
Earlier, the media reported that Messi is waiting for an offer from Barcelona. The forward asked to formalize the transition to the Catalan club until the end of the season-2022/2023, but if there is no active action by the Blaugranas, the player will remain at PSG.
It should be recalled that Messi's agreement with Paris expires in June 2023. During the current season the striker has played 27 matches in the French championship, where he scored 15 goals and assisted the same number of times. Also Messi has seven games in the Champions League, where he scored four goals and gave four assists.
