Striker Lionel Messi will play his first match for Inter Miami at the end of July.
According to ESPN, the management of the American team expects Messi to play for his new club for the first time in a match against Mexican club Cruz Azul. The match will take place on the night of July 22 as part of the group stage of the Leagues Cup tournament, which features teams from the MLS and Mexican championships.
Messi became a free agent on June 30 after his current contract with French club PSG expired. The forward played 75 games for the club, scoring 32 goals and providing 35 assists.
The Argentine played a total of 875 games, scoring 710 goals and making 339 assists. The striker has spent most of his career with Barcelona, who had previously hoped for Messi's return. Transfermarkt estimates the transfer value of the player at €45 million.
