Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni may lead Barcelona after the departure of their current manager Xavi Hernandez at the end of the season, reports Todofichajes.
According to the source, Lionel Messi himself advised the leadership of the Catalan club to consider Scaloni's candidacy among other coaches. Recall, 43-year-old Xavi expressed his desire to leave the post of mentor of Barcelona after the defeat of Villarreal with the score (5:3) in the championship of Spain.
The Blaugrana are in third place in the La Liga standings. The club is ten points behind the leading Real Madrid.
Scaloni took charge of the Albiceleste in August 2018. With him, the national team won the Copa América in 2021, the Finalissima, as well as the World Cup in Qatar in 2022. Scaloni also won the award as the best mentor for 2022 according to FIFA.
Earlier, the head coach of Argentina has mentioned that he may leave the Albiceleste. It was reported that the mentor of the Spanish Girona Michel is the main candidate for the post of head coach of Barcelona instead of Xavi.
