Argentina striker Lionel Messi expressed his opinion that the football fields at the America's Cup 2024 in the United States are not good for the teams to play fast.
Argentina defeated Ecuador 1-1 (4-2 on penalties) in the quarterfinals of the tournament on Friday, July 5.
Messi said, as reported by the press service of the Argentine Football Federation:
We knew it was going to be an intense, hard-fought match. It was as we expected. They have very good players. The pitches don’t allow you to play as fast as you want either. That always makes it easier for the defender.

In the semifinals of the America's Cup, Argentina will play the winner of the match between Venezuela and Canada.
In 2026, the USA will be one of the hosts of the World Cup.
