U.S. men's national team head coach Mauricio Pochettino has been named the highest-paid coach in national team history, according to ESPN on social media.
The source reveals that he has signed a two-year contract with a salary of €6 million. No previous national team coach has ever had such a salary.
The U.S. team will participate in the 2026 World Cup without having to go through the qualifying rounds, as they are one of the host nations.
Prior to this role, the Argentine managed Chelsea from the summer of 2023 until May 2024, overseeing 51 games with a record of 27 wins, 10 draws, and 14 losses.
This is the first time Pochettino has worked with a national team. Previously, he led Spanish club Espanyol, English clubs Southampton and Tottenham, and French club PSG.
Mauricio Pochettino was officially announced as the U.S. men's national team head coach earlier.
