Portugal's national team coach Roberto Martinez expressed his emotions after the game and defeat of his players in the quarter-final match of the European Championship against the French national team.
On July 6, the Portuguese lost to France in a penalty shootout with a score of 3:5 after the teams failed to score in regular time. The Portuguese national team dropped out of the tournament.
A sad night, a sad moment, but the players gave their all. We played well, controlled the ball, defended well using personal guard, we’ve had the best chances. But the issue was that we didn't score. And that's tough.
Roberto Martinez
On July 9, France will face Spain, who achieved a hard-fought victory over Germany with a score of 2:1 in a parallel match.
