Roberto Mancini, who recently left his post as head coach of the Italian national team, said in an interview with Corriere dello Sport that Luciano Spalletti will lead the Squadra Azzurra.
Last season, the 64-year-old expert brought Napoli their first championship in Italy in 33 years. After winning the scudetto, Spalletti announced his decision to take a pause in his coaching career for a season. According to rumors, the reason for his departure was disagreements with the president of adzurri Aurelio De Laurentiis.
Mancini managed the Italian national team for more than five years and led it to victory at Euro 2020. The 58-year-old Italian is said to have connections with the national team of Saudi Arabia, but the coach himself denies rumors of any specific offers.
The Italian Football Federation is allegedly ready to offer Spalletti a three-year contract with a salary of about €3 million a year.
