Former goalkeeper of London's Arsenal, Jens Lehmann, shared his thoughts on Mikel Arteta's performance as the head coach of the Gunners, suggesting that the Spaniard might not be the ideal fit for the team.

Lehmann told The Telegraph:

Arteta has done really well bringing Arsenal up, but if he is the right man for Arsenal now… I am not sure. Last year, they were leading, and in one month [April], they lost it [three draws and one defeat]. What people who hire coaches sometimes don't understand is that the personality of the coach is super important as well.

Lehmann also wonders whether Mikel Arteta has the winning mentality or if he is simply a "nice guy" capable of elevating the team to a certain level and then leaving.

At the end of the past season, London's Arsenal earned 89 points, securing the second spot in the Premier League standings, trailing behind Manchester City by two points.

Arteta has been at the helm of Arsenal since winter 2019. During this period, he guided the Gunners to victory in the FA Cup and two Community Shields. Under the Spaniard's leadership, the Londoners played 231 matches across all competitions, with 140 wins, 34 draws, and 57 losses.
