Javier Tebas, the President of La Liga, announced the intention of national leagues to file a lawsuit against FIFA in the European Union due to the organization’s unilateral decisions to increase the number of matches.
Tebas mentioned that a joint conference will take place on Monday involving FIFPro, La Liga, and the English Premier League, during which they plan to condemn FIFA before EU authorities.
Tebas told Marca:
Now we have to accept the Club World Cup because FIFA administered it. But no national league agrees with this.
He added that FIFA's decisions benefit only about 300 players and 20 clubs, which he deemed unacceptable, and criticized the new Champions League format for its negative impact on national leagues.
Earlier, Manchester City midfielder Rodri, who is currently recovering from a ligament injury, told the BBC about the possibility of players organizing a strike due to an overly packed schedule. It has also been reported that FIFA approved the transfer window for teams participating in the Club World Cup in 2025.
