Speaking to Footmercato, Real Madrid La Liga club and France national football team striker Kylian Mbappe has stated his desire to receive the annual Ballon d'Or award for the best footballer in the world.

Forward of the MLS club Inter Miami and the national team of Argentina Lionel Messi became the winner of the prize in 2023. Mbappe, 25, then a player for French side Paris Saint-Germain, was one of the candidates for the award.

The Ballon d'Or is still a goal for me. Since I was a kid, I've always wanted to be the best player in the world. I will continue to give my all and work diligently to achieve this goal. Because this is my job and part of my life: constantly striving to improve, while still enjoying it.

The final round of the 2024 European Football Championship will take place from June 14 to July 14. The French national team will face teams from Poland, Austria and the Netherlands in Group D. Mbappe is included in the squad and will receive the captain's armband.

On June 9, RMC Sport reported that "Donatello" missed a training session with the national team due to back problems but was able to participate in a friendly match against Canada (0-0). Earlier, on June 5, Mbappe mentioned in an interview that the European Championship is much more challenging than the World Cup.
