Kenya’s Junior Starlets coach Mildred Cheche says their performance in friendly matches in their training camp in Spain have shown them that they are ready for their debut at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup later this month.

The Kenyan girls won two matches, edging out both Valencia Femenino and Intercity CF 4-1, and drew their second game 1-1 with Portugal, where they came from a goal down.

Speaking exclusively to Telecomasia.net from Spain, coach Cheche says she is excited with what she has seen with the team:

It has been a really good camp and we have picked quite a lot of positives. In terms of confidence, the players have really gained and I know when we get to the World Cup, there won’t be matters of stage fright. We have seen the level we are and the level we need to improve.

She says they have gained lots of positives from the matches and training, especially in terms of match fitness and the expected tempo of play at the World Cup.

The team is fully prepared and now the focus fully is on the World Cup and our opening game against England.
