The Main coach of the English Premier League (EPL) club Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp, has explained his decision to step down as the manager of the Reds at the end of the 2023/2024 season.
Sky Sports quotes Klopp as saying:
For that, you really need to be full of energy. 80 per cent is not enough. It’s a 24/7 job. I did it for a pretty long time and I knew I couldn’t continue to do it at the standard necessary for a club like Liverpool.
On January 26, the 56-year-old German specialist officially announced that he would leave his position at Liverpool after the current season due to fatigue. Klopp has been in charge of Liverpool since October 2015, leading it to the Premier League title in the 2019/2020 season, victory in the Champions League final in 2018/2019, and the UEFA Super Cup in 2019.
On May 1, The Independent newspaper reported that Klopp may take over German Bundesliga team Borussia Dortmund. The coach managed Dortmund from 2008 to 2015.
After playing 35 rounds of the 2023/2024 EPL season, Liverpool have gathered 75 points and are in third place in the league table.
