Kenyan international Rooney Onyango has made what he has described as a dream move to Norway, after securing a deal with second tier side Sogndal Fotball from Kenyan champions Gor Mahia. Onyango has been attending trials with the Norwegian side for the past month and a half, and has impressed them enough to be handed a contract.
Onyango, who has also previously played for the defunct Wazito FC has had several stints of trials in Europe, but finally a deal has materialized his way.
Speaking to Telecomasia.com from his new base in Vestland, Onyango has described it as a dream come true to finally make the move to Europe.
It’s like a dream come true for me because I have really worked hard for this. I have been patiently waiting for the opportunity and the month-long trials have been eye opening. I am thankful to the team for the opportunity and now my aim is to put in the work and ensure we do well this season. When I came in here, I was determined to make the best out of the opportunity and I am delighted to have made the move.
