Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak scored a brace in the 35th round of the Premier League against Sheffield, surpassing Zlatan Ibrahimovic's achievement to become the best Swedish striker in league history.
Isak now has 19 goals in the current Premier League season. The previous record among Swedish players belonged to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who scored 17 goals for Manchester United in the 2016/2017 season.
The 24-year-old Isak joined Newcastle United from Real Sociedad last summer. He has participated in 36 matches in all competitions this season, scoring 23 goals and providing one assist. The Swede's contract with the club runs until the summer of 2028. Transfermarkt values the striker at 70 million euros.
In late 2023, Zlatan Ibrahimovic joined AC Milan's board of directors.
