Reporter Natasha Bertrand, with reference to CNN correspondent Sam Keeley, reports that the relatives of the players of the Iranian national team faced pressure from the authorities before the team's match in the 2022 World Cup against the United States.
According to the source, the players' relatives have been threatened with prison and torture if the Iranian players do not "behave properly" before the meeting with the United States. Dozens of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps officers are reportedly controlling the Iranian national team players, who aren't allowed to leave the team's camp or communicate with foreigners in Qatar.
The Iranian team will face the U.S. on November 29 at 22:00 GMT+3. Before the final match in the group stage, the Iranians are in second place with three points, while the United States are in third place with two points.
