The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is confident that the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris will be held without any problems, despite the riots in France.

Since July 27, there have been mass protests in France caused by police actions during the detention of a 17-year-old teenager in Nanterre, a suburb of Paris. He was shot and killed after refusing to cooperate, while driving a car. Two cases were initiated: one for refusal to obey traffic police demands and attempted murder of a person in the line of duty, and the other for police misconduct.

Protesters set cars and government buildings on fire during the riots. According to media reports, there are more than 3.5 thousand people detained. It was reported that on the night of July 1, an aquatic sports training center was set on fire. The facade of the building sustained minor damage.

We were sorry to hear about the recent incidents in France. But we have full confidence that the organizing committee and the French authorities will hold successful Olympic and Paralympic Games.
