Injured forward of the Hungarian national team Barnabas Varga will undergo surgery and will not participate in Euro 2024. This was announced by the head coach of the national team Marco Rossi.
Rossi quoted by L'Equipe:
He is out of danger. He will undergo an operation after fracture in his face and he won't be available for the rest of Euro 2024.
In the 70th minute of the match against Scotland (1-0), Varga collided with the opposing team's goalkeeper Angus Gunn and received an elbow blow to the head. The player lost consciousness and left the field on a stretcher.
Hungary finished the group stage of the Euro 2024 football championship in third place in Group A and theoretically still has chances of advancing to the playoffs.
