Spain national team footballer Jennifer Hermoso has spoken out about the consequences of the kissing scandal of former Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) head Luis Rubiales.
Marca quotes Hermoso as saying:
I continue working on it with the help of my psychologist, who I have been with for many years. Thanks to her I feel strong and I’m not shattered or thinking about not wanting to play football anymore. I’ve had to assume the consequences of an act that I did not provoke. I have received threats, and that is something you never get used to.
Recall, Rubiales was caught in a scandal after the final of the women's World Cup 2023. The functionary kissed Hermoso on the lips after the awards ceremony for the winners.
The Spanish National Court also banned Rubiales from communicating with the footballer in any way during the investigation. However, the judge rejected a request by the prosecutor's office to force Luis to report to court every two weeks.
In September, the functionary officially announced his resignation.
Despite the departure of the functionary and head coach of the women's national team Jorge Vilda, 23 players of the national team refused to return to the team. La Liga president Javier Tebas had earlier accused Rubiales of holding orgies after work.
