The German national team outplayed the national team of Costa Rica in the third round of the group stage match of the World Cup in Qatar.
Hans-Dieter Flick's team scored four goals. Serge Gnabry, Niclas Füllkrug and Kai Havertz scored twice. For Costa Rica, Yeltsin Tejeda and Juan Vargas scored.
However, Germany, despite winning for the second time in a row, failed to advance from the group to the playoffs, finishing third in the quartet.

Japan and Spain advanced to the playoffs from Group E.
