Former Montpellier and Nigeria national team player John Chukwudi Utaka has commented on a possible transfer of 26-year-old Russian goalkeeper of Krasnodar Matvei Safonov to PSG.

I think it will be a good transfer for Safonov, because PSG is a great club. If I were him, I would also risk going as a second goalkeeper. It's a good opportunity to improve and maybe play in European competitions.

Safonov is a pupil of Krasnodar's academy. He has 175 matches on his record, 53 clean sheets and 208 goals conceded. The Transfermarkt website estimates the market value of the goalkeeper at €18 million.

On May 28, RMC Sport reported that Safonov arrived in Paris to sign a contract with PSG. Championat reported that Krasnodar and PSG have agreed for the transfer of the goalkeeper.
