According to Relevo, Diego Simeone, the head coach of Atletico Madrid, may step down from his position with the Spanish team.
As per the source, the club is considering Jürgen Klopp, the German coach who currently doesn’t have a team, as a potential replacement for the Argentine.
Klopp's last club was Liverpool, where he managed from October 2015 to May 2024, leading the team to seven trophies. He also previously coached Borussia Dortmund and Mainz.
Diego Simeone has been at the helm of Atletico since 2011. During his tenure, the team has won the Spanish league twice, the UEFA Europa League and Super Cup twice each, and the Copa and Supercopa de España once each.
Currently, Atletico sit in third place in the Spanish La Liga standings with 26 points after 13 rounds.
Starting January 1, Jürgen Klopp will assume the role of global head of football operations at Red Bull.
Additionally, Diego Simeone has become the record holder for the most points in the history of La Liga.
