Former Bolivian national team defender Sergio Jauregui was killed during an amateur football match in Mexico, reports the publication Proceso.
The 38-year-old football player came to the sideline to drink some water during the game. At that moment a man ran up to him, fired a gun and fled. No one tried to stop the attacker.
Jauregui finished his career as a professional footballer in 2012. He played for Blooming, San Jose and Yverdon Sport. He played 13 matches for the Bolivian national team in the mid-2000s.
