Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, a former striker for Arsenal, has been denied bail after being charged with importing drugs. Approximately £600,000 worth of cannabis, weighing around 60 kg, was seized at Stansted Airport, where Emmanuel-Thomas was arrested on Wednesday morning.

The 33-year-old, who recently joined Greenock Morton on a free transfer, was detained after UK Border Force officials discovered the drugs in multiple suitcases that had arrived from Bangkok on September 2. The National Crime Agency (NCA) reported that two suitcases were found, although prosecutors later stated that four were involved in the case.

Emmanuel-Thomas joined Arsenal's youth academy at eight and made his first-team debut in October 2010, later transferring to Ipswich in 2011 after a brief stint with the Gunners.
