According to the website Sky Sports News, several unnamed clubs in the English Premier League (EPL) have separately distanced themselves from the proposed version of the football Super League, considering the idea ridiculous.
The A22 release was reportedly ignored by several EPL clubs as "far-fetched" and "not worthy of public response." Five of the English elite clubs said they didn't want to participate in the Super League.
On January 9, it was announced that there was an attempt to restart the Super League, conceived as an alternative to the UEFA Champions League and suspended in April 2021. The initiative for the tournament comes from Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus.
On February 9, the company A22, the main investor in the project, issued a press release naming the ten basic principles of the Super League, as well as the format: up to 80 clubs split into several divisions.
