FIFA President Gianni Infantino commented on the demand of the head of the Palestinian Football Association Jibril Rajoub to suspend the membership of the Israeli federation in the organization.
Recall that during the 74th FIFA Congress, held in Bangkok (Thailand), Jibril Rajoub made a demand to suspend the Israeli Football Federation.
FIFA will mandate as of now, independent legal expertise to analyze the three requests (from the Palestinian FA) and ensure the statutes of FIFA are applied in the right way. This legal assessment will have to allow for inputs and claims of both member associations. Due to the urgency of the situation, an extraordinary FIFA Council will be convened and will take place before July 20 to review the results of the legal assessment and to take the decisions that are appropriate.
Recall that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict escalated in early October last year.
