Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has apologized to his teammates in person after joining the squad in the USA as the club ends its investigation into the controversial video of the derogatory song about France's black players.

The 2024 Copa America winner has been centered around a viral racist video he posted on Instagram during their celebrations of the Copa America success with his international teammates, which included him and several other players singing a racist and derogatory chant about some France players. The French Football Federation also condemned the footage and believed it to contain a "racist and discriminatory" chant.

The action led several Chelsea players to unfollow Fernandez on social media, and it was further described as "uninhibited racism" by one of his teammates, Wesley Fofana. The Argentine later apologized on social media, and SkySports confirmed that the Argentina international arrived in Atlanta on Monday to join up with the Chelsea squad and apologized immediately to his teammates, with the apology understood to be accepted.

Chelsea captain Reece James and French defender Axel Disasi have been leading the consultation process with other Chelsea players. Chelsea's disciplinary process against Fernandez is now considered closed.
