Egypt national team and Modern Future club striker Ahmed Refaat passed away at the age of 31 after suffering a heart attack during a local championship match. This was reported by the Egyptian Football Association press service.
Our hearts are heavy with grief, but we may find solace in the plans God has for us. We hope that the Almighty God will surround the footballer with his great kindness, place him in His expansive paradise, and give him the grace to be patient and at peace. Refaat felt unwell during the game between Modern Future and Al-Ittihad (0:0) on March 11. In the final minutes of the match, he collapsed on the field, losing consciousness, and was immediately hospitalized. Since then, the footballer had been in a coma.
Refaa played in 211 matches in his professional career, including appearances for the Egypt national team, where he scored 46 goals and made 40 assists.
