On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes to six years in prison for taking part in a major drug smuggling operation. The 32-year-old forward was previously convicted of stabbing his cousin.
The 32-year-old player has a contract with Spartak until the summer of 2024. Promes played 21 matches this season, scored eight goals and made eight assists.
