According to Aawasat, the disciplinary and ethics committee of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation has decided to disqualify Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo of Al-Nassr for two matches.
This decision comes after Ronaldo was sent off for a scuffle with Al Hilal defender Renan Lodi in the 86th minute of their match in the Saudi Arabian Super Cup, during which his opponent fell to the ground and signaled to the referee that the Portuguese had hit him in the face with his elbow. Ronaldo disagreed with the red card and, as he left the field, made a punching gesture towards the main referee of the match.
Following a hearing on this incident, Ronaldo, who claimed his innocence in the episode, was suspended for two matches. Earlier, Al-Nassr head coach Luis Castro criticized the referee's decision to send off the Portuguese forward.
