A scandal has erupted in Bulgarian football concerning a referee responsible for VAR during the match of the 27th round between CSKA and Lokomotiv. Just minutes before the match began, he was seen browsing a betting website.
Footage captured Volen Chinkov (VAR referee), his assistant Stoyan Arsov, and a VAR video operator, according to the publication dnes.bg.
Before each match, a camera in the VAR room shows the referees who will review controversial moments. However, during the broadcast of the CSKA vs. Lokomotiv match, the camera recorded a member of the VAR team looking at a betting website on his phone.
Stanislav Todorov, the head of the referees’ committee, stated that this individual is not associated with the Bulgarian Football Union.
