Zenit's Brazilian midfielder Wendel reacted to a racist incident when a fan threw a banana at him during the match against Volga Ulyanovsk in the quarterfinal match of the Russian Cup.
He published a video of the moment with a banana thrown at him on his Instagram, captioning it with a swearing emoji and the words "Fogo Neles", which in the player's homeland means "burn racism".
Recall that the incident occurred in the 90+1 minute of the match, during the change of Wendel with the Russian player Danila Kozlov.
In the match against Volga, the Brazilian registered an assist and helped his team to pass to the second round of the quarterfinals of the Cup of Russia.
Earlier, former RFU general secretary Anatoly Vorobyov said in an interview with Sport24 that the fan who threw the banana at the player had no brains.
