The Brazil national under-17 football team set a World Cup record in their age group for the number of shots in a single match.
In the match of the second round of the group stage, the South Americans won 9-0 with 77 strikes on the opponent's goal. Only 23 attempts of the Brazilians reached the goal. Interestingly, the New Caledonia national team had six attempts, one of them reaching the opponent's goal.
This result was a new record for the U-17 World Cup. The previous achievement belonged to Cameroon, with 42 shots on goal in a meeting with New Zealand in 2013.
In the first match, Brazil lost 2-3 to Iran, while New Caledonia lost 0-10 to England.
