Lawyer Hugues Vigier, representing the interests of French footballer Karim Benzema said the Ballon d’Or winner is receiving threats due to a statement by French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin.
Previously, it became known that Benzema had filed a lawsuit against the French Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, because the minister accused the footballer of having links with the Islamist organization “Muslim Brotherhood”.
RMCSport quotes Vigier as saying:
The minister’s comments have serious consequences. Karim Benzema is receiving threats in Saudi Arabia, where he works, after the minister’s words about his ties to a terrorist organization. He is receiving messages of hatred.
