Inter Miami owner David Beckham has talked about into Lionel Messi's transfer to the club, explaining the reasons behind the move. He emphasized that finding a place where Messi's family could enjoy life together was extremely important for the Argentine star.
Goal cites Beckham as saying:
To be able to say that we've signed the world's greatest ever player to ever play the game. Everybody's got their opinion on who they think is the best player of all time – whether it be Diego Maradona, Pele, all of these great players. But to say that we have in the MLS, in Miami, the greatest player to play the game, it's just like a dream, you know?
Beckham mentioned that during Messi's time in Miami over the summer, he watched training sessions every day just to see what Messi was doing on the field, calling it a special moment.
Messi joined Inter Miami last year, and since then, he has played 31 matches, scoring 27 goals and providing 17 assists.
