Barcelona's management will again ask team leaders Marc-André ter Stegen and Frenkie de Jong to negotiate lower wages.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan club plans to offer the German goalkeeper and the Dutch midfielder the extension of their current contracts on condition that the current salaries are reduced.
It is noted that the contracts of ter Stegen and de Jong, designed until 2025 and 2026 respectively, will be extended for 2-3 seasons. Thanks to this, the players will get more money because of the longer terms of the agreement, despite the reduction of the annual salary.
This is a step taken by the Spanish side to satisfy the financial and fair play requirements imposed by La Liga. Barça need to reduce spending by 200 million euros to be able to sign new players in the coming summer.
