On April 15, Barcelona will face Borussia Dortmund away in the second leg of the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League quarterfinals. In the first leg, Barcelona secured a confident 4–0 victory.

Barcelona goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny could equal a long-standing club record held by Johan Cruyff in this match.

If the Polish goalkeeper, as expected, starts the game and Barcelona avoid defeat, it will mark his 23rd consecutive unbeaten match since making his debut for the Spanish club.

That would tie the legendary Johan Cruyff’s record for the longest unbeaten run at the start of a Barcelona career, set during the 1973/74 season.

So far, Szczęsny has played 22 matches for Barcelona across all competitions — 19 wins and 3 draws.

The 34-year-old joined Barcelona in October 2024 as a free agent. His current contract runs until June 30, 2025. Transfermarkt currently estimates the Polish goalkeeper at €1 million.

Earlier, Spanish media outlet Marca reported that Barcelona may be considering a contract extension for Szczęsny.

According to Give Me Sport, Johan Cruyff is considered to be the most influential player in the history of football.
