Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal has become the most expensive 16-year-old player in the history of world football.
According to the updated market value of players on Transfermarkt website, the price of the Spanish forward is €50 million. No one has ever before reached such a transfer value in football at such a young age.
Earlier Yamal became the youngest player to score a goal in a Spanish championship match and the youngest debutant in the history of the Spanish national team. This season he has played 11 games for Barcelona, scored two goals and made one assist. Yamal also played two games for the Spanish national team in the qualifying tournament for Euro 2024 and distinguished himself with one goal.
The 16-year-old striker's contract with Barcelona runs until the end of the 2025/26 season. As Telecomasia.net reported earlier, the agreement provides for a release fee of €1 billion.
