According to the AS news outlet, Luka Modric, the central midfielder of the La Liga club Real Madrid and the captain of the Croatian national team, is leaning towards extending his contract with los Blancos.
It is worth noting that the current contract of the 38-year-old Croatian with the team expires at the end of June 2024. According to sources, Modric had previously considered leaving Real Madrid, but now has no issue with his role as a rotation player. Real Madrid's head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, also wants the extension of the midfielder's contract.
On May 11, newspaper Marca reported that Modric wants to leave Real Madrid due to the transfer of French national team forward Kylian Mbappe.
In 30 matches of the 2023/2024 La Liga season, the midfielder scored two goals and provided six assists. Modric also played ten matches in the Champions League. Modric's market value is eight million euros, according to Transfermarkt.
